Well, it looks like 2008 is officially over. I'm quite glad we've put that year to rest. It wasn't a horrible year by any means, but it felt as if nothing in my life has happened. No advancement, no excitement, nothing. I don't really feel any better off than I was January 1st, 2008.

I'm quite excited for 2009 and looking forward to it. I think it'll be a fabulous year and if I have things my way, it's going to be full of excitement and changes in my life; hopefully all for the better.

Cheers to the promise 2009 brings! Bring it on Life, I'm waiting and ready!

I read on CBC.ca a few hours ago that Jane Jacobs has passed away.

It's pretty sad. She managed to articulate a lot of what I've observed and made it actually a popular position within the Urban Planning field. I have no idea where the planning profession would be today had it not been for her.

RIP Jacobs.

Library

So, the library decided to lose the book that I returned to it.

It was a few days overdue and someone had put a request on it. I returned it to the Dunn over the weekend sometime, put it in the little basket on the circulation desk. I figured everything was honky-dory as I'd never had a problem with the hundreds of books I've returned before. But no, yesterday I get a call from the Killam looking for their book, I told them I'd returned it to the Dunn. She didn't have much to say about that, it's not as if she's going to argue my story.

Right now the book is lost somewhere in the library system. I'm hoping it'll turn up when it gets delivered to the Killam, you see, it's a Killam book so since I returned it to the Dunn it has to be moved back to the Killam. What usually happens to the best of my understanding is the Dunn usually checks it as being back in but it's status is set to "In transit" as it's moved back to the Killam. I'm assuming that once it gets back to the Killam they once again check it in and mark it as being back at the library. I'm hoping it'll get caught at that point. I'll give it another couple days before I go and cause a fuss.

It's just a pain because right now it's incurring late fees. They'll be disputed as soon as this whole kafuffle is dealt with, maybe I'll even get some extra taken off "anguish".

I guess the moral of the story is to hand the books that you're returning to the liberian and watch her check them back into the system. Then promptly check your account to make sure it's off your record. I know it's a pain, but these incompetent people cannot be trusted these days.

In other news, 7 days till I'm back out west.
